Lord mayor case ruling on 24 th this month

High Court Judge Yasin Nyanzi has set 24th of this month to decide whether he disqualifies himself from hearing the application filed by the lord Mayor Erias Lukwago that requires the review of the tribunal report.

This comes after the Attorney General represented by Martin Mwambustya during a closed door session asked the judge to disqualify himself from handing the matter on grounds of his impartiality.

According to Lukwago who is the applicant, the Attorney General based his arguments on the fact that Justice Nyanzi sanctioned the hearing of the earlier application that resulted in an injunction of the 25th of November meeting chaired by the minister for Kampala Frank Tumwebaze.

Lukwago further explains that the Court Registry had all the right to consult with Justice Nyanzi who also gave a green light to hear the application. Objecting to the reasons for the requests made by the Attorney General, Lukwago said that these are mere delaying tactics by the executive aimed at continued violation of the court order.
