The Irmgard Coninx Research Grant is available for conference participants attending the Conference on “From Rebellion to Revolution: Dynamics of Political Change”in Germany.
The conference wants to examine the dynamics of political (and often violent) unrest that lead to, or at least aims at, fundamental structural transformations of political regimes and alterations in power relations between the masses and the elites.
Based on an international essay competition, approximately 45 applicants will be invited to discuss their research, concerns and agendas with peers and prominent scholars in Berlin.
The Irmgard Coninx Foundation will cover travel to and accommodation in Berlin.
A call for papers has been extended to scholars (max. up to 10 years after Ph.D.) and practitioners (e.g. workers in governmental or urban services, NGOs, journalists).
The Irmgard Coninx Research Grant is designed as recognition of an outstanding contribution to the Roundtables.
The grant winners will receive a scholarship for an up to three-month stay at the Social Science Research Centre Berlin (WZB).
The grant can be used for a variety of purposes relating to the grant winner’s academic interests: field research, general readings, preparation of publications, writing of Ph.D. thesis, building new contacts in Berlin, and so forth.
The foundation provides accommodation in Berlin, covers the travel costs to and from Berlin and pays a monthly stipend of 1,000 Euro.
The deadline to submit applications is 30 June.
