The Chief of Defense Forces, General Katumba Wamala, on Wednesday while speaking to journalists said that there were a number of people demanding to benefit from the resources of dead army comrades yet they have never been on the list of the beneficiary children of the departed soldiers.

Katumba says these children are being brought by their mothers yet the dead army officers did not record their names among the children he or she had before death.

He said that every army officer has a file with the force authority showing the name and number of children he or she is having to avoid impersonators using the dead army officers for benefit.

Katumba also says that the army will never allow army officers to retire from the army when they have not served a minimum of 13 years.

He says that this is a rule in the army to enable the army officers’ access pension so that they do not become a problem to the society after retiring from military service though the army pension arrears is worth 690 billion shillings.

He also clarified that some of the army officers seen in area with bad behaviors are deserters who are not entitled to pension.
