AU discusses South Sudan, Central African Republic conflics

 

Ethiopian Capital city Addis Ababa is the venue for 22nd AU Ordinary session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government. President Museveni of Uganda is already in Addis Ababa. He was received at BoleInternationalAirPort by the Ethiopian Minister of Mines, Tolosa Shogi.

The 22nd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government opened on Thursday under the theme, “2014 Year of Agriculture and Food Security, Marking 10th Anniversary of the Adoption of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP).”

The agenda of the 22nd AU Ordinary session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government is dominated by the Conflict in Central African Republic and South Sudan.

The two day summit of the continental bloc in Ethiopia was opened by African Union chairman and Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn who officially themed on agriculture and food security.

Ethiopian Foreign Minister Tedros Adhanom laments that “humanitarian tragedies are unfolding in South Sudan and Central African Republic at a time when Africa is talking about ‘African renaissance’.
