Ban Ki-moon to visit Uganda on Sunday

Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary General of the United Nations will visit Uganda on Sunday May 30th, 2010.

He will preside over the International Criminal Court (ICC) review conference in Kampala the following day.

The conference will start on May 31 and end on June 11th, 2010.

The minister of State for International affairs, Okello Oryem has confirmed Ki-moon’s visit to Uganda.

The ICC meeting will be attended by representatives from over 111 countries. Other key people to attend the meeting are Ki-moon’s predecessor, Kofi Annan and Thabo Mbeki, the former president of South Africa.

The ICC review conference will discuss aggression and the impact of the ICC on the negatively affected communities of Africa, especially northern Uganda.

Outside the ICC conference room, there will be the peoples’ space activities that will include book exhibitions, theatre performances, live talk-shows and documentaries.

Oryem says Ban Ki-moon will also feature in a football match with President Yoweri Museveni at Mandela Stadium, at Namboole on May 30.
