Best performing PLE schools and districts

 

Education and Sports Minister, Jessica Alupo has named the districts of Bulambuli, Bukwo, Kaliro, Iganga, Buyende, Bugiri, Bududa, Kalangala, Lwengo and Namutumba among others as home for the worst performing PLE schools in 2013.

Among the top performing districts, the minister says Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono, FortPortal, Ntungamo, Mbarara, Kabarole, Kabale, Kaberamaido, Rukungiri, Masaka, Jinja and Luweero.

The PLE results for academic year 2013 were released in Kampala on Friday, January 31, 2014.  Female candidates performed well compared to their male counterparts.  Jesca Alupo, presiding over the release of the PLE results at Statistics House in Kampala, said a total of 581, 586 candidates registered for the 2013 PLE exams.  She said that Social Studies (SST) and Science were the better performed subjects than Mathematics and English. The minister added that the pass rate in 2013 was 88.1%, lower than that of 2012 which was at 88.4%.
