The church has called on the general public to desist from evil behaviors that have led to giving of birth to babies that are later abandoned. The Namirembe Diocese Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira said that promiscuity and other ills have led to the increasing cases of innocent babies abandoned by parents which undermines the gift of life from God.

Announcing a Marathon to fundraise shs 450 million for the rehabilitation of Sanyu Babies Home, Bishop Luwalira said that people should not abuse the presence of orphanages and foster homes. Luwalira added that instead people should leave an upright lifestyle and be ready to take good care of their babies.

The Director Sanyu Babies Home, Barbara Mutagubya, said that the marathon under the theme “Run for the Innocent Children” scheduled for 8th of August will attract corporate entities paying 5 and 2 million shillings while individuals will pay shs 10,000.
