Grief befell in Bukuuku Sub County Kabarole District yesterday when a 13-year-old boy died after drowning into River Mpanga at Rwenkuba-Nyakasura Bridge.

The deceased, identified as Agabas, a son to Fadah Birungi of Bukuuku Sub County Kabarole District, drowned when he was swimming in the river since he could not be rescued by his young colleagues.

Speaking to our reporter shortly after the body had been retrieved, the Councilor for Bazaar Ward in South Division Fort Portal Mutegeki Geoffrey Bogoya who helped in recovering the body, attributed the tragedy to the high velocity of the water, which the young boy could not handle.

By press time yesterday the body was still lying at the scene awaiting a post-mortem.
