Buganda Kingdom minister resigns to contest for MP

The Buganda Kingdom deputy Information minister Medadi Ssegona Lubega has tendered his resignation to contest for the Busiro Member of Parliament in Wakiso district in the coming 2011 Uganda general elections.

The Busiro East MP position is currently held by Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) youthful MP Susan Nakawuki.

The outspoken Buganda deputy information minister who tendered his resignation to the Buganda King, Kabaka Ronald Mwenda Muteebi expects to get a response today (17th June 2010).

Ssegona who is a trained lawyer has been instrumental in advocating for a Federal system of government, return of Buganda properties from the central government and resisting the Land Amendment Bill 2007.

Ssegona is one of the Uganda politician endorsed by the Buganda Kingdom to contest for a political position.

This comes after the two former Buganda Prime Ministers Joseph Mulwanyamuli Ssemwogerere and Dan Mulika joined Uganda opposition political party FDC.
