Buganda MPs concerned about murders in central region

Members of the Buganda caucus are asking government to come up with a statement on the ongoing killings in the central region.

The caucus chairman Godfrey Kiwanda says the area residents are now living in fear.

He says that the killings may culminate into mob justice if it’s not controlled as people will resort to using their own protective means which is not good for the country.

He says that the killings started in the areas of Kampala and have now spread to most districts in the region.

Kiwanda is now asking the police to respond to the people’s security concerns and save lives.

The said killings have been reported in different districts of Buganda the most recent being the death of a family of 5 in Kyanamukaka Masaka district.

The Inspector General of Police Lt Gen. Kale Kayihura has promised to personally visit those mentioned areas next week to try and get to the root of the matter.

He adds that the police are already heavily deployed in areas of Kakiri, Wakiso and Kiboga among others.
