While traversing Bugiri district in search of votes for the National Resistance Movement flag bearer Hajji Siraje Lyavala , in the Bugiri LC5 by-election the President of Uganda Museveni was blessed with an unusual gift. The Chief Executive Officer of The New Forests Company, Henry Burger donated Bilton Forest High School to Museveni.
“I thank the CEO of The New Forests Company, Mr. Burger for building and donating the school to government,” he said, adding that government will fully equip the school with a view to ensuring that the education sector in that part of the district is enhanced. He also gave assurances that all the arrears due to the teachers will be settled.
The Bugiri District LC5 bye-election has had its fair share of drama. Just a couple of days back the opposition and the president clashed when Museveni decided to address an opposition rally.
The seat fell vacant last year, after the elected chairman Marijani Azalwa was found guilty of assaulting his political opponent David Mulengeni during the campaigns of 2011 and the people shall cast their votes for the hotly contested seat today 19th March 2015.
