School-going children in Kyankwanzi and Kiboga districts are still sitting in classes with no writing materials which affect their education. The school teachers in these districts note that children are sent to schools with no books, pencils and pens, making teachers fail to teach children to the required standard. The leaders note that even the schools are a long distance away as some sub counties have no government schools making children miss schools.The newly elected speaker Bukomero town council Isaac Tusubira said that government should establish at least a government school in each sub county to improve the area education. The Headmistress SJ-starling primary school in Musalaba village, Mulungi Sub County in Kyankwanzi district Mary Nalubega said that some children come with one book yet a student is supposed to be taught seven subjects.
This has prompted some NGOs to extend assistance to schools by donating scholastic materials to children so as they remain in schools with what to use while studying. LAUMA-training ministry donated books, pens and pencils to 100 children studying at SJ-starling children centre at Musalaba village, Mulungi Sub County and Good Samaritan primary school in Kiboga town council.
The Director LAUMA training and Christian teaching Rev Robert Muhwezi appeals to parents to give their children some school requirements though there is high levels of poverty in rural areas.
