Civil society organizations want more action on global fund corruption

Civil society organization working in the health sector have petition parliament demanding the judiciary to take immediate action against the three ministers who were implicated in the mismanagement  of funds from the global funds.

The 39 non-governmental organizations want Jimmy Muhwezi, Michael Makula Alex Kamugisa and state house employee Alice Kaboyo to refund the 1.6 billion shillings that was misappropriated during their officer in 2006.

The civil society group handed their petition to the deputy speaker of parliament Jacob Olanya protesting the move by the government to cut down the budget of the health ministry by 2 billion shillings to pay back the money lost.

The groups want the health ministry budget increased by another one billion to cater for procurement of essential drugs and remunerations of health workers.

The groups also demand donors to pressurelize for accountability of funds given to Uganda government as Aid.
