Clinical officer arrested for supplying fake seeds to farmers Aleputong district

A clinical officer only indentified as Godwin Obong in Aleputong district is in trouble for allegedly supplying fake agricultural

sunflower seeds to over 100 farmers in Aleputong.

Obong has been arrested for supplying fake seeds to farmers claiming they were bought from Mukwano industries.

Trouble for Obong stemed from when the farmers tried to plant the seeds but they failed to germinate. They reported the matter to police that later arrested him.

Sam Obua the Aleputong district police criminal investigation officer says they have also recovered over 35 Sackets of fake seeds from the suspect packed in the bags of Mukwano group of companies.

Obua says their investigation so far saw Obong has been supplying fake seeds for farmers in Amugu and Aboko sub-counties.

Police reports say Obong told police that he started supplying fake seeds to farmers in march this 2011 at 18,000
shillings a pack. However, he claims that he was also supplied the seeds by some people from Kampala.
