Conservative Party to Demonstrate over Sembule Steel Mills

The Conservative Party (CP) is planning to stage a demonstration in Kampala on Saturday over the ‘the demise of Sembule Steel Mills.’ The President General of CP, John Ken Lukyamuzi, who doubles also as a neighbour of Sembule Steel Mills and a Member of Parliament for Lubaga South (2011-2016) says he has on three consecutive occasions been assured by the Leader of Government Business in Parliament that Sembule steel Mills would be bailed out of sale by public auction by the Government of Uganda.

Sembule steel Mills has for over 30 years been the most successful steel mills company managed and founded by indigenous Ugandans. Even President Milton Obote, whom president Museveni usually accuse of being non-developmental, murderer, anti peace, and authoritarian supported its initiation.

But the Government of president Museveni, according to Lukyamuzi, has refused to fullfill the promise it has been making on the floor of Uganda Parliament. In protest over the breach of contract by the NRM government, Lukyamuzi has promised to lead a public demonstration in protest in Kampala. Millions of Ugandans are not happy that the government saves foreign companies and fails on local ones.
