Court summons four top Democratic Party officials

Four Democratic Party officials including the party’s president have been summoned to court.

The officials include Nobert Mao, Secretary General Mathias Nsubuga, former president Ssebana Kizito, and Moses Kabuusu.

They are required to explain why Kampala Central MP Erias Lukwago, for whom they stood surety has failed to appear in court over charges of inciting violence.

Buganda Road Court grade one magistrate Geofrey Sayekyo has ordered them to appear in court on April 23rd.

Elias Lukwago who jointly charged with the Buganda kingdom deputy spokesperson Medard Lubega Ssegonna was meant to appear before the same court today, but did not show up and no explanation has been given.

This follows several other failed court appearances that were also unexplained.
Prosecution alleges that on 9th September 2009, while appearing on one of the local radio stations, the duo made statements that could bring death or physical harm to other individuals or groups.
