Dangers of cleaning virgina with soap

Hundreds of us are guilty of using soap douching (washing or cleaning the birth canal with water and other mixtures of fluids, soap or perfumes).

The birth canal has good bacteria that keep bacteria and infections away. Douching and using soap therefore, upsets the natural balance of good bacteria in the virgina (virginal flora).

These changes make the environment more favourable for growth of bacteria, causing infections like Candida and vaginosis (a disease of the virgina caused by bacteria).

According to online sources, studies have found that women who stopped douching were less likely to have bacterial vaginosis.

Having it can increase the risk of preterm labour and endometriosis. This is when the cells from the lining of the womb or uterus grow in other areas of the body. This can cause pain, irregular bleeding and problems getting pregnant. Clean plain water is recommended for cleaning the vagina.
