Deputy Prime Ministers Muganwa Kajura, Eria Kategaya and Moses Ali questioned on their advanced age

Some members of the Parliament appointments committee, currently scrutinizing and vetting President Museveni’s ministerial appointments seems uncomfortable with the age bracket of all Deputy Prime Ministers.

The first Deputy Premier, Eriya Kategaya told journalists waiting for him outside of the committee room that Leader of Opposition Nandala Mafabi has questioned his age. Mafabi reportedly said Kategaya and other Deputy Prime Ministers are too old and have spent a lot of time as a member of the cabinet.

Kategaya retorted that he is enjoying the fruits of labour as a key figure in the liberation struggles that brought the current government to power and that he is still useful.

The second Deputy Premier, also Minister for Public Service Henry Muganwa Kajura said he had enough stamina to work, no matter his age. He told journalists that the committee raised the issue of stamina because of his age but says that he can still serve since he is even trusted by the people in his constituency.

And the story was the same for the third Deputy Premier Gen Moses Ali who said that even if they are questioning his age, he still thank GOD for his age.

The committee has today vetted all the 29 cabinet ministers and a few ministers of state. The committee is chaired by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga, and her deputy Jacob Oulanyah is also a member.
