The Democratic Party (DP) has today denied being one of the rebel groups in Uganda.

The development follows army reports that the captured LRA political commissar, Solomon Okello ‘Mission’ was found with a DP membership card.

Okello was captured by Uganda Peoples Defence Forces Soldiers at Ezo in Southern Sudan after a brief shoot-out on March 31.

The Spokesperson of DP, Mwaka Lutukumoi says DP is not in anyway linked to a rebel group.

He says DP believes in peace, truth and justice.

Lutukumoi says Okello being found in possession of a party card doesn’t mean that the party believes in armed struggle.
The spokesperson of DP says Okello was found with a rosary.

“Does it mean the Pope, Cardinals or the Archbishop s commissioned him?” Lutukumoi asks.
