Dr. Muhammad Kigunddu appointed new Makerere University communications manager

“The rumour that Rita Namisango has been fired is not true. Rita retains her position as Senior Public Relations Officer supervised by the newly appointed Manager Communications and International Relations,” he noted.

Dr. Muhammad Kigunddu has been appointed as the new Makerere University manager of communications and public relations.

The university’s Human Resource Manager Andrew Abunyang, confirmed the appointment of new PR.

“The Vice-Chancellor has authorized an offer of an appointment to you as a manager, communications and International Relations in the office of the Vice-Chancellor for a period of one year with effect from January 18, 2019,”
Abunyang said .

Kigunddu is a senior lecturer in the department of Humanities and Language and a former Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA) chairperson.

Kigunddu will oversee the universities communications policy, over the next one year as well as offering secretarial support to the office of the Vice-Chancellor through monthly press briefings.

Other duties include monitoring news articles, reports, and periodicals about the university operations and monitoring and reviewing the coverage of the University in the media.

Makerere vice chancellor, professor Barnabas Nawangwe congratulated Kigundu but also denied allegations that Ritah Namisango has been fired.

“I congratulate Dr. Muhammad Kiggundu Musoke upon his appointment as Manager Communications and International Relations. I believe he will revamp the two functions for the good of Makerere University,” he wrote.
