East African universities to hold course on Hi-tech water management

Makerere University in conjunction with Kenyatta University, University of Dar-es-Salaam, University of Siegen in Germany and the Capacity Building for Integrated Watershed Management in East Africa (WMNET) project are organizing a one week short course on the application of geographic information systems in integrated watershed management.

The course is scheduled to take place from 19th to 23rd July 2010 at Makerere University Institute of environment and Natural Resources (MUIENR).

Participants will be trained on the use ArcGIS Software and GIS application in watershed analysis and modeling.

The target participants are professionals working in the fields of Water, Environment and natural resources management.

To participate in the training, computer knowledge is a must and previous experience with GIS applications will be an added advantage.

Partial funding for some applicants is available. Other participants will be required to pay Uganda shillings 500,000 as course fees and meals.

Suitable candidates are required to submit their applications before Friday, 2nd July 2010 to The Director MUIENR on the address below.
