Elders in the Democratic Party are working hard to reconcile warring factions in Uganda’s oldest opposition party.

The former President of DP, Paul Kawanga Semogerere says reconciliation efforts are intended to harmonise the party ahead of 2011 polls.

Semogerere admits DP has internal wrangles but he says unity will be achieved through reconciliation.

The DP reconciliation meeting is expected later this month.

DP is currently locked in a bitter row with Norbert Mao and his group on one side and MP Lulume Bayiga’s faction on the other side.
