Elections were not free and fair – EU Report

Ugandan Elections 2016
A report released by European Union Observation Mission (EU EOM) indicates that the Electoral Commission lacked independence and transparency during the just colluded general elections 2016. They note that elections were full of violation of human rights and freedoms by the security personnel especially police which used excessive power which created fear for the electorates hence it was not free and fair.

The report further indicates that the elections fell short of international obligations for the conduct of democratic elections at key stages. On the same note Kukan accused police of oppressing the opposition leaders including frequent arresting with no charges against them
