In relation to the circulating claims that the entertainment sector including music concerts, bars have been opened, Ministry of Health has come out saying that the sector is still closed.

Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the Senior Public Relations Officer of Ministry of Health, says on November 9, the Ministry of Health, with guidance from the National Task Force, only okayed the reopening of Cinemas with effect from November 14.

“The people circulating these claims are using the same directive to assume that the rest of the entertainment spaces were reopened, too, which is not the case. As far as we are concerned, music concerts, bars are still closed, pending guidance from the National Task Force, says Ainebyoona.

Robert Musiitwa, the Spokesperson of Uganda National Cultural Center (UNCC), however says, the official request to reopen the arts sector after a very long time was issued on November 2 to the Ministry of Health, and responded to on November 9, allowing all entertainment spaces to be reopened.

“It is upon the satisfaction we gave the Ministry of Health that we have been allowed to operate again,” says Musiitwa
