After 18 years in the driving permit issuance services in the country, Face Technologies will on March 1 handover the role to Uganda Security Printing Company (USPC).
According to the works and transport minister, Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, the new company is now ready to take over the mandate to issue driving permits, following a series of preparatory work and training of staff.
“On March 1, the government will take over the issuance of permits,” Wamala told the media.
The contract of Face Technologies expired recently and the government declined to renew it, saying the time has come for a government-led company to take charge of the issuance of driving permits.
However, the South African company was given up to March to pave way for USPC, a government company with a working relationship with Veridos, a German security printing entity.
