Government directed us to approve Kayihura as inspector general of governance, says MPs

 Members of Parliament on NRM ticket say they were under instructions to approve Lt. Gen. Kale Kayihura as the inspector General of Police.

 President Museveni renewed Kayihura’s contract of the Inspector General of Police in November last year week and Kayihura’s name was sent to parliament for vetting.

 We have been told that the members of parliament on parliament appoint committee chaired by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga were reportedly directed by state house to approve his contract.

 Kayihura was required to appear before the committee for questioning and approval and the MPs approved him as directed.

 Kayihura has been at the helm of Uganda Police since 2005 when he replaced General Edward Katumba Wamala as Inspector General of Police.

Kayihura is also still a serving member of UPDF, former head ofUganda’s Revenue Protection Services former commander of UPDF in Democratic Republic of Congo.
