Government imposes African swine fever quarantine in Wakiso, Uganda, movement of pork banned

 Following the outbreak of African swine fever in KakokirovillageofKasengengeparish in Wakiso town council, quarantine restrictions have been imposed on Wakiso district immediately.

 The commissioner of agriculture, animal industry and fisheries, Dr. C.S Rutebarika says that movements of pigs, pork, salami, ham, sausages and bacon from, to and within Wakiso district is prohibited with immediate effect uuntil further notice. He was speaking to our reporters inMakindyeSubCountyheadquarters inKampalayesterday.

 The commissioner says that the veterinary staff, LCs, chiefs, enforcement personnel, and the general public are requested to enforce quarantine restrictions so that the disease is brought under control.
