Government moves to evaluate UTODA operations

The Government has insisted that the Uganda Taxi Operators and Drivers Association (UTODA) must present its bank account and accountability for the last 6 months for verification and transparency.

The state minister for Transport Works and Communication Steven Chebrot, in a meeting with the officials from KCCA, Presidential advisors and UTODA says they have come to a resolution which will help them get solutions that will help them handle UTODA issues.

Chebrot says that among other issues, they have looked into the observation of the directives given by the President to UTODA, the issuing of policy guidelines by the director of transport, the suspension of un receipted collection, and the conducting of monthly meetings with UTODA officials, the state minister for transport and the Lord Mayor among others.

Chebrot has also ordered UTODA to stop arresting drivers and mistreating them as some drivers allege.
