Headmaster arrested over mismanaging UPE funds

The Police have arrested George Katumba, the headmaster of Lumundi Primary school for allegedly mismanaging money meant for executing Universal Primary Education (UPE).

Corporal Martin Walugembe of Wobulenzi police station says Katumba was arrested after police receiving complaints from concerned parents. Police say it is still investigating the case.

Upon arrest, Katumba pledged not guilty of the offence. He is also named in the loss of 5 million shillings from the school’s bank account.

Corporal Walugembe says Katumba will be produced to court after investigations are complete.
