Health minister calls for intervention to curtail brain drain

Doctors' StetoscopeThe minister of Health Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye says that government should have an intervention to cut on the number of health experts running abroad for better pay. Dr. Tumwesigye says that the ministries of public service and finance should speed up the law establishing the salaries remuneration board that will remunerate health experts in a better way required basing on their professional risk. He says that the number of health experts leaving the country of their origin to work abroad its not only in Uganda but in many African countries. He added that the health experts need to be working and living in a conducive environment so as they love staying at health facilities in the country.

Reports in the country show that government insists to export 241 Ugandan health workers to Trinidada and Tobago though the county’s health facilities have less health workers.
