Three Ministry of Health officials accused neglecting their duties have filed their defence and denied their allegations.

Appearing before the Anti corruption court judge, Paul Mugamba today, the trio including the national director of the malaria control programme, Dr. Richard Ndyomugyenyi, his deputy Dr. Myers Lugemwa and an administrator in the same unit Chebet Martin told court that they only did what they were supposed to do.

They said that they were not the only ones who had authority over the drug supply process, saying that some members of parliament, ministers, and other ministry officials were also involved.

They face charges of corruption for having failed to ensure proper management of the requisition and distribution of malaria drugs at the ministry of health between 2008 and 2009.

Prosecution also alleges that they gave only 5000 dozens of malaria drugs to Mulago hospital instead of 40,000 dozens being a referral hospital.
