Independent Presidential candidate Lt Gen (Rtd) Henry Tumukunde has shared his record of “numerous achievements” serving in various roles in the army, diplomatic service, intelligence services, Parliament, and Cabinet.

Henry Tumukunde notes in his foreword to his 2021 election manifesto that his achievements in the over 39 years he says he spent serving in these roles include as a machine gunner in the National Resistance Army’s liberation struggle of the 1980s.
Tumukunde, who is campaigning under the platform of “Renewed Uganda”, says he successfully thwarted various security and terror threats while heading the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI), Internal Security Organization (ISO), and as security minister.
He also claims to have driven the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebel leader Joseph Kony out of Uganda while serving as the commanding officer of the UPDF Fourth Division.
