High court in Kasese orders a recount of Kasese woman MP votes

High court in Kasese has ordered for the recount of the votes that were cast in ballot boxes currently under dispute.

The order stems from petition filed by Kasese woman MP contestant Rehema Muhindo challenging the victory of Kasese woman MP Winifred Kiiza.

Court presided over by justice Elizabeth Namanya heard that the votes in 9 boxes were tempered with, prompting her agents to reject the results.

Muhindo argued that the election in which her rival was declared winner was mold with a lot of irregularities and Court ordered that the votes be recounted.

The lawyer’s representing the Kasese woman MP rejected the order but they were over ruled by the judge.

They later requested the judge she refused on grounds that this will used as an excuse to delay the recount.

Muhindo says she has a reason to smile and is confident that the recounts could the electoral commission anomalies and reject the Kasese woman MP from parliament
