President Museveni campaigning

People in Hoima district have been assured of reliable power supply. The construction of the Buseruka hydro power dam in Hoima is destined to give the area residents stable power supply.

President Museveni promised the project in 2006 presidential campaigns under the rural electrification programme.

The $28 million ( about 60 billion shillings) power project will produce nine mega watts on completion. The engineer of Hydromax Power Company, Gopalakrishnan Ramkumar says the project will produce power to full capacity before May 2010.

Hydromax is the company constructing Buseruka hydro power dam. The dam is being constructed on River Wambabya in Hoima district.

The electricity in the area is expected to boost small scale industries, agro processing as well as general life in Hoima which is expected to become Uganda’s oil city.
