Importances of urination

Dialysis is the process of cleaning blood by filtering it to remove excess water and impurities using a machine. A dialysis keeps the body in good balance by removing waste, salt and extra water.

Dialysis helps to keep certain chemicals in the body such as sodium and potassium. One can stay on dialysis for a long time. Many patients need dialysis the moment they develop late stage kidney failure. Medical experts tell us that a kidney is having failed if one loses a80 to 90% of its function. If a person takes 12 litres of water in a day, that person must urinate the 11 litres that very day. Dr Simon Peter, a nephrologist at Mulago hospital says many people develop kidney complications due to over accumulation of fluids in his or her body.

The fluids in the body accumulate when the kidney fails to perform its function of cleaning blood by filtering it to remove excess water from the body.
