The State Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen. Jeje Odong has been sworn in today in Parliament as an ex-officio member of the executive.
Jeje’s appointment as a state minister for Defence last year by President Museveni was stayed, pending consultation with the Attorney General over his position.
MPs on the Defence and Internal Affairs committee had also threatened to hold budget approval of the Defence sector budget until Odong’s portfolio had been cleared.
The Prime Minister, Apollo Nsibambi welcomed Odong and promised to work with him on the front bench and also in executing government work.
The opposition side also welcomed the minister with Alice Alaso saying the people of Teso were happy with the development.
