Judges favour Lukwago, Munyagwa and Turinawe

The trial of Kawempe Division mayor, Mubarak Munyagwa, impeached Kampala Lord Mayor, Hajji Erias Lukwago, and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) woman leader, Ingrid Turinawe failed to take off in Kabale today.

The trio are accused of inciting violence in Kabale town council. They were expected to appear before the Chief Magistrate of Kabale on Tuesday for hearing of their case.

However, their trial failed to kick off following the absence of the chief magistrate and the state attorney because they were transferred.

The case was adjourned by the Grade II Magistrate’s court in Kabale untill the two judicial officers are replaced. The prosecution says that on July 14, 2012 while Lukwago, Turinawe and Munyagwa were at a rally at Kabale Municipal stadium, they incited the public against policemen on duty leading to the destruction of police vehicles.
