Kalangala district asks for 3rd constituency

Leaders from Kalangala district have started advocating for the third constituency. Speaking to journalists at parliament the district woman mp Ruth Nvumeta Kavuma says that the islands are scattered and this has made the work for current MPs difficult.

She says that they want an MP who can reach to the people in order to make effective representation.

Kavuma says that they cannot advocate for the district but its better if they are given another constituency. Currently the district is made up of two constituencies; Kyamuswa and Buvuma representing the more than 60 islands that make up Kalangala district.

She says that currently, MPs fail to reach at all points to consult withthe people and therefore they don’t play their role accordingly.
