Kampala students wounded in stampede

Seven students of Old Kampala senior secondary school are nursing woods sustained in a stampede.

This is after falling debris from a classroom block under construction hit the students who were sitting for exams.

According to eye witnesses, the injuries were sustained in the chaos that ensued as the students struggled to get out of the classroom a result of a single way out for a big classroom, with some trying their luck through windows.

The school head teacher, Martin Mukasa who confirmed the incident, said the injuries were not severe and the students managed to continue with the examinations.

He adds that although it is illegal for students to use a building under construction, it is sometimes inevitable.

The site supervisor for Capital Events Constructions limited, Pamela Kaganda denied knowledge of any such incident.
