KCCA to establish physical planning committee to aid planned city growth

The minister in charge of Kampala capital city authority has directed the executive director of KCCA and her team to immediately put in place a physical planning committee to approve pending plans.

Tumwebaze has told journalists during a press conference at cabinet library in Kampala that the KCCA act gives him powers to direct the authority to do what he thinks is urgent.

He says that over 19,000 developers have approached him complaining about their plans not being approved by KCCA yet they acquired loans to put up structures.

The committee has not been formed because of the disagreements between the lord mayor Elias Lukwago and KCCA executive director Jennifer Musisi.

Tumwebaze adds that KCCA has been demolishing illegal structures in the city yet it has failed to approve plans for those who have applied.
