King Oyo takes over full control of Tooro kingdom

King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru has ruled Tooro since 1995 but he took full control of the kingdom affairs today. Before today April 17th 2010, Oyo was ruling his kingdom under the guidance of regents and guardians.

The guardians included President Museveni, the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II and his wife Queen Sylvia Nagginda.

They regents were John Katuramu, Thomas Kisembo, James Rabwoni (RIP), Zerio Byabagambi, Prof. Oswald Ndolereire, Isaiah Kalya, George Nyakairu, Justine Bakahumura and Richard Baguma.

Oyo became the king of Tooro after the death of his father, Omukama (King) Olimi Kaboyo in 1995.

King Oyo was only three years by the time he was crowned the king of Tooro. Because king Oyo was very young, he could not directly rule his kingdom before he made it to 18, so he administered the kingdom through the regents and guardians.

Oyo feasted with his guests at his Karuzika palace in Fort portal. His guests included politicians and traditional leaders from across Africa.
