Anywar a staunch Forum for Democratic Change member says that every Member of Parliament was supplied with a car and they have monthly fuel allowances besides salaries that are enough to facilitate them to supervise government programs without straining the taxpayers.

Anywar wonders the coincidence of government offers of huge sums of money to MPs during crucial election time. She says that during the opening of presidential term limits debate, government offered 5 million to every Member of Parliament and this time of elections government is offering billions of money to MPs while most Ugandans are in abject poverty.

She laments that 20 million to every Member of Parliament who gets salary and fuel facilitation monthly is pure robbery to the taxpayers and a sign of selfishness.

The government says the money from the supplementary budget recently approved by parliament is meant to enable MPs supervise government programs in their respective constituencies.

But several MPs led by Anywar and opposition Finance Minister Nadala Mafabi have said the offer of the money is unnecessary and illegal bailout to MPs who are in campaigns.
