Businessman Dodovico Mwanja who was accused of unlawfully demolishing the St Peters church in Ndeeba was granted bail by Makindye Grade One Magistrate Prossy Katishabe on 9th September 2020.
In the ruling which was conducted online(video conferencing), Dodovico and the other 17 were ordered to pay 2million Uganda shillings in cash each and signed a non-cash bond of 100 million Uganda shilling.
Dodovico and the team ware also ordered to leave all their passports and national identity cards to court before they were released.
St Peters was one of the oldest churches in Uganda; however, it was maliciously and callously brought down deep in the night by some court bailiffs and hoodlums who were heavily protected by different security personnel.
On August 15, 2020, President Yoweri Museveni visited the church and promised to reconstruct the church. “I promise you that this church will be rebuilt,” the president said
