The rate at which the Ugandan radio industry is losing presenters to marriage is worrying.
A few months ago, Radio City’s Judithiana quit and wedded shortly after.
As we were still digesting that, Galaxy FM’s Mariat Candance Nasasira has also quit the Kansanga based radio station.
Mariat worked at Urban TV before.
What started as speculation is now a fact. Mariat Candance Nasasira is no longer an employee of Galaxy FM) after nine years of hosting the morning show.
She had not been on the radio since the beginning of this year until her resignation was announced today (Wednesday, February 10).
About a month ago, Mariat was wedded in a Nikka ceremony.
She announced her departure from the station in a post: “Today marks one month since I took my vows and officially becoming Mrs. Ssegawa Mansha Allah…I would like to inform you officially that I am no longer an employee of Galaxy FM. I have been part of Galaxy FM since February 2013 as a presenter and Programs Director. I take time off to concentrate on my businesses and family.”
Her decision to quit an office job to become a housewife has sparked off a fierce social media debate between feminists and traditionalists.
