Medical doctors banned from advertising within police stations

The director of medical services Uganda police has banned medical doctors from advertising their services inside the police station because of conflict of interest. Recently Dr. Moses Byaruhanga the medical director of Uganda police forced a doctor to put down his advertisement posters inside Katwe police station and ordered another to operating inside the Lira police station.

Dr. Moses Byaruhanga said he took the decision to stop the doctors after some medical doctors who were found charging the crime victims referred to them for medical examination huge sums of money and share it with some corps.

He said that he decided to stop the medical doctors before the members of the pubic start accusing the police of conniving with doctors to charge them exorbitant sums of money

He however says that police has partnered with some medical doctors to carry out forexic examinations on cases such as defilement, assault, rape, murder and suicide.

Dr. Byaruhanga explained that police resorted to this arrangement because of lack of required man power to handle the bulk of work.

He says there only two doctors stationed in Kampala who are also summoned to respond to emergency cases in the different parts of the country.
