Parliament’s public accounts has deferred further hearing of the minister of Uganda for Agriculture, Hope Mwesigye’s testimony in the probe of funds spent during the Common Wealth Heads of Government meeting in 2007.

Agriculture minister Hope Mwesigye had been summoned to explain her role in the city beautification process, which she supervised as local government minister then with close to a billion shillings lost in the exercise.

She however walked out of the committee this morning accusing the MPs of delaying to begin the meeting.

The chairperson of the committee, Nandala Mafabi says the committee gave her opportunity to defend herself, which she has now turned down.

Mafabi now says the committee has closed off the hearings and will proceed to write its report.

Hope Mwesigye together with Vice President of Uganda, Gilbert Bukenya remain the only top government officials implicated in the probe who have not given their side of the story as the committee winds up its investigations.
