MP Alice Alaso resigns FDC role

We have received a copy of the electronic message Serere Woman MP Alice Alaso sent to opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) National Executive Committee (NEC) members turning down General Mugisha Muntu’s appointment to shadow cabinet in Uganda parliament. Muntu is the president general of FDC. He replaced Col. Kizza Besigye as party president.

The message sent to us by an FDC source ran as follows:

“I thank NEC for assigning me to chair PAC (Public Accounts Committee of Parliament of Uganda). Unfortunately, I am not able to take up this due to my inability and lack of expertise in figures. I am only a historian, social worker and Policy analyst. If only I had been consulted, I would have informed NEC of my inadequacies earlier. I have no background in Accounts, Finance or Auditing. Please re-assign.
Thank you very much. I am humbled by the congratulatory messages.
Alaso Alice Asianut, FDC Secretary General.”
