Mpairwe Beatrice thrown out as Bulisa woman member of parliament

The high court sitting in Masindi has declared the Bulisa woman Member of Parliament seat vacant, ousting Mpairwe Beatrice who was holding the position.

Mpairwe’s election was declared illegal after court ruling that her victory was acheived with a lot of fraud characterized with gross irregularities.

Mpairwe’s election was contested by Norah Bigirwekya an independent who sought a court order to cancel her rival’s election on grounds that she was robbed of her victory.

Bigirwekya filed a petition at Masindi High court challenging the reactions of the electoral commission and her political rival during the electoral process.

Norah Bigirwekya asserted that the entire electoral process was a fraud and asked the court to nullify the outcome of Bulisa district woman Member of Parliament elections.

In her ruling the assistant registrar in the high court seating in Masindi, Lilian Muwanda nullified Mpairwe’s election on grounds that the elections were not free and fair and ordered the electoral commission to conduct fresh elections.
