The Members of Parliament are asking the government of Uganda to provide funding to the Insurance Commission.

Currently the commission depends on fees and money paid by insurance brokers for different services.

The MP for Butambala county, Ibrahim Lubega Kaddunabbi says the commission is a body that is established by law and is entitled to funding from government.

Kaddunabi is also calling for amendment of the proposed insurance bill to compel the government to insure its vehicles.
The current law excludes the central government of Uganda from insuring its vehicles, which he says is costing the country’s taxpayers.
