The Parliamentary Local Government committee today put Kampala City Council to task to explain circumstances under which 30 cars were sold to different individuals at very cheap prices.

The Auditor General’s report queried the sale of the cars between 2000 and 2006 where some KCC officials bought some of the cars at 100,000 shillings, while others were sold at 200,000 shillings.

According to committee member, Milton Muwuma, the exercise seemed irregular and to sell cars such as pajeros and a grader at such low prices is suspicious and calls for further investigation.

Muwuma also revealed that the former KCC engineer and now Katikamu North MP, Eng. Abraham Byandala is among those who benefited from the sales.
